Like a tourist in a foreign country, a child with autism needs someone who is willing to be a guide, not just a teacher. Here are some tips for learning how to guide your child by following the acronym S.U.C.C.E.S.S.
Living in our dynamic, fast changing world can be extremely stressful ? even for those who are processing information at a normal rate. Imagine moving to another country where you know only a limited amount of the language that the nationals speak. It could be overwhelming! Now imagine trying to keep up the same lifestyle you now have in that country. Without the support of a trusted guide, we’d all fail! What a different experience that would be if you were given more guidance, such as learning about the culture and foundational words in their language before you go; or going with somebody that is familiar with that country!

Everybody has a family of some kind. Some are great. Some are challenging. It’s up to you how you accept their influences.
Nobody gets into life without a family. At a minimum, one mom and one dad are requisite. If you got folks who loved and supported you, that’s your lot in life. If you got folks who did not love and support you, that’s your lot in life. God is not unloving, so you wouldn’t ever be asked to handle something you could not handle. If your family is a challenge for you, it’s because you can handle it.
