One of the best things about becoming a grandparent, is that you often get to do a lot of fun things with your grandchildren. Many grandparents in fact, love being able to have fun with their grandchildren because they feel they didn’t have enough fun with their own children as they were growing up.
When your own children were growing, you had many more concerns and stress in your life. You had bills to pay, emergencies to handle and so on, all during a time of your life when you were still getting things started. Most people for instance, have children before they’ve even started buying their own home. And most people are still building their careers when their children are born too, so these everyday life pressures made things more difficult as your children were growing.

I have what I consider to be a slight addiction to working with wood veneers.
When you start to investigate the available veneers on the market, it becomes very difficult for me to understand any resistance to it, that some people have. Maybe it’s fear of the unknown.
For some, it could be that veneered furniture is thought to be inferior to solid wood furniture. This couldn’t be further from the truth. It could be the fact that some of the woodworking rules are invalid for using this material. Or maybe the cost of investing in a new facet of an already expensive hobby. Or maybe it’s the idea of buying the equipment, and ending up not using it. Only the individual can answer these resistances to a new method of woodworking.

Pregnancy and alcohol do not go hand in hand. There has been numerous medical studies proving the deleterious effects of alcohol consumption during pregnancy. Yet, many people minimize the evidence and keep taking generous amounts of alcohol during pregnancy thus exposing the unborn fetus to its dangerous effects.
What do we know exactly about alcohol and pregnancy?
The fetal alcoholic syndrome is a well described phenomenon where the baby who has been exposed to repeated and sometimes important amount of alcohol during the pregnancy is born with severe and permanent malformations. Such problems are a general growth retardation, a particular face pattern, an under development of its brain and a generalized developmental retardation which can never be compensated during life even with the proper support.

My earliest memories of my grandmother are connected to her busy with some kind of needlecraft. She was keen on sewing, quilting and crocheting.
As she grew older, she wanted to leave an heirloom to each of her grandchildren. At that stage, guided by the ignorance of youth, I declined her offer.
Then, my grandmother became very ill. She gradually lost her eyesight, and eventually was unable to continue busying herself with the needlecraft she so much loved. Her life, once so meaningful, was reduced to her bed and her chair in her old-age home. The final straw was when she developed gangrene in her left foot. The operation to amputate part of her left leg was too severe an intervention for a woman of her age, and she died at the age of eighty-seven.

Nursing homes offer themselves in many economic climates and settings. And, in most cases are staffed with individuals that are dedicated to the well being of seniors

The transition can be pleasant though it may be hard to imagine, even if you are moving
